Gender and nation: the works of media representation. Media help us visualize or imagine the nation. Journalists are part of a society which legitimizes certain images of the nation and others/aliens. Both of these authors in their research have done something called semiotics which is the study of signs. For ex: a word on a page; for instance nation . These authors are looking at the media and saying that the kind of images they show us have meanings. An imagined national community and imagined as both inherently limited and sovereign.
