Document Summary

Freud: psychological disorders are a result of personality development. Freud didn"t do experimentation, he did many observations very hard to test any of his ideas drew conclusions from observations. Freud thought that the mind can have a strong influence on the body as well. Talked about psychic energy and primitive drives push us to behave in certain ways. Way we behave others infer our personality from this. Freud really stressed about the unconscious we are not aware of our behaviours sometimes. Freud: there is a psychological battle within each of us between three entities: id (instinct), ego (reason) and conscience (superego) Raw basic biological drives make up the id primitive. The pleasure principle desire to obtain immediate gratification. Freud thought that the id was completely unconscious but it had such a huge effect though we are not aware of this. Id is the primal source and the trick is how you satisfy those primal desires.
