Intra-familial child molesters (incest offenders: those who sexually abuse their own biological children or children for whom they assume a parental role, such as a stepfather or live-in boyfriend: extra-familial child molesters: sexually abuse children outside the family. These offenders often engage in other criminal behaviours: the pervasively angry type has a high level of anger that is directed toward both men and women. In contrast to the pervasively angry type, the vindictive rapist"s anger is focused solely on women. These offenders are not impulsive, nor are they preoccupied by sexual fantasies. The features of the sadistic rapist include: obtaining sexual gratification by hurting the victim, high levels of victim injury, including torture and sometimes death, frequent violent sexual fantasies, approximately 5% of rapists fit this type. The vindictive rapist is similar to the anger rapist and the pervasively angry rapist shares some of the features of the power rapist.
