Model of relationships in middle and older adulthood: attachment theory. Can be assessed in a number of ways later in life. Attempts to assess an adults internal working model of relationships. Interview focuses on childhood experiences with attachment figures. Not scored on the content of participants" answers (ie. what they say), but rather the way the content is articulated (is. Avoidance and anxiety are the primary dimensions assessed. Results of research concerning stability of attachment from childhood to adulthood. Small to moderate degree of overlap in the security felt w/ different partners (correlations = Single longitudinal study (covered attachment from ages 1-20) indicates only modest stability (correlations = 0. 17) People who are least close but still meaningful. What do we know about differences in convoys related to: ~21-45 convoy grows (meeting new people, family expands, etc) ~45-up convoy shrinks (deaths, move outward on model; social disengagement theory)
