The changing face of cities: steel encourages the building of high-rises and railroads, with the rise of mass transit, cities can spread out drastically. The emergence of central business districts organized by ethnicity and race: governments start putting money into electricity, subway/streetcar, sewage systems, etc, specialized shops start to disappear and be replaced by the department store.
