When a person stops, the other person talks. Listener is attentive and looks at the speaker. Speaker usually looks away from speaker because they need to reserve mental space to concentrate speech production. Speaker looks at listener to signal him when it"s almost his time to talk. Nonverbal gestures that can or cannot be found in dictionary. Nonverbal gestures that are not found in dictionary. May be thought as distraction to speaker, but it is actually useful in guiding communication. Researcher uses a tape of the listener"s responsive reaction in another conversation and it is a distraction for the listener. Every dyadic interaction has appropriate level of intimacy.
