Document Summary

The biggest myth of the 20th/21st century is that we live without myths. Science tells us a lot (organizes our experience) but it says little about how/why we feels. A myth is a strategy for translating what would be otherwise random sensations into experiences (what happens to you) Faith is something you believe, which helps you organize the experiences that come to you; it is a perpetual exercise. If you aren"t happy, there"s something in your mythology/belief system that guides you in a way you don"t like. 20th century: we don"t have a universal belief of what god is. We designate transcendent beings (sacred; god/mastercard) is uncorruptable, which is why we yearn for it: never going to know because if you know, your faith will be weak. Greatest crisis of 20th/21st century: loss of transcendental certitude. French revolution: killing of a king similar to the killing of a god: democracy: voting not praying; have more freedom but less sure.
