Muscle pumps can help you to not faint. You lose around 4 l of filtrate daily to the intersitial space. 4 l of fluid that goes into the interstitial space and gets pumped back (in a normal individual) so that blood volume is not lost. If lymph nodes get blocked elephantiasis (parasite- worm- blocks lumph nodes) The cardiovascular response to aerobic exercise see slides, will be on exam. Eg: at the olympics, cross country skiing, etc. You must bring in enough oxygen to take care of what you"re doing (burns enough fuel) Cardiac output = heart rate x stroke volume. Mean arterial pressure = cardiac output x tpr. Skin also has increased blood flow because you have to lose heat (or else you die) see table 12-7. Hypertrophy: increase in number of heart cells does not occur, increase in size does. Heart disease see slides on plaque, angiography and angioplasty, stents.
