Pope pius xi: accepts mussolini but after changes when mussolini tries to endocrine the youth by. Pius xi dies in 1939 and pius xii becomes pope: he calls for peace and claims vatican neutrality; but hes not actually neutral. 1934- barmen declaration: authored by the bonhoffer, wanted to ban jews that converted to christianity to remove them from christianity. Converted jew=not a real christian: they had a racist agenda. No more openness to challenging the nazis. You would not get away with it any longer. Pius xii: big believer in prayer, fatima also believed this. Your prayers are not lost adn can change the world even political things: part of his agenda was to have the world pray.
