Document Summary

Jan 25, 2011 treatment of abnormality and research methods lec: Biological approaches- antipshycotic such as cholorophormozine- before this was invented people had to be in ward but when came people were let out. We have a variety of medications becausethey have different side effects, like someone who has relationship problems and is dealing with depression you shouldn"t give them a anti depressant that makes them not be sexually charged. Psychotherapy- parkensin disease, severe ocd, epilepsy, very rare and a last resort. Repetitive transcranial stimulation- happens quite a bit for addiction, powerful magnets that attaches to your brain, long term changes in your neuro syn pase transmission. Not to many studies for long impact of treatment, few side effects, safer, looks promising. Biological should be attached to pshychological and they don"t help relationship patterns so important to also seek pshychological treatment. Individual treatment meeting pshychologist or social worker, group therapy is more common than individual due to less cost.
