Zeus is the supreme god and father of gods and men . Theogeny is also an account of how the world began. Theogeny literally means the origin of the gods . Cosmogony literally means the origin of the world . Theogeny was composed toward the end of 8th century b. c by hesoid a greek farmer poet from the region of boetia. Theogeny is possible the oldest surviving example of greek written literature. We know little about the life of hesoid.
