Key of another table, not the one currently viewed. Collection of forms, reports, queries, app programs, etc. that process a database: can have one or more, each with one or more users. Database application programs: process logic specific for business need, e. g. assign grades at end of term, enable database processing over internet. Can fix with locking, but has problems: data conflicts lead to inaccurate results. Enterprise: process large org databases, support lots of users & apps, apps are separate.
