Study found that judges differed in opinion on charter challenges, depending on whether liberals or conservatives appointed them: also found different opinions in judge"s gender in family law cases. Greater impact when appeal panel (almost always made up of 3 judges) was homogeneous ; when judges were either all conservative or all liberal. Political appointment of judges mattered most when cases were of a political nature (i. e. charter challenges) People bring some aspect of their personal backgrounds into their work: some male judges might hold stereotypes about traditional family roles.
