The empirical process depends on theories, hypotheses, and research: the empirical process reflects a dynamic interaction between 3 essential elements. 1st, there is a theory, which is an idea or a model of how something in the world works. It consists of interconnected ideas and concepts, explains what is observed, and makes predictions about future events. 2nd, there is a hypothesis, which is a specific prediction of what should be observed if the theory under consideration is correct. In this manner, the hypothesis serves as a direct tests of the theory. If the theory is reasonably accurate, the prediction framed in the hypothesis should be correct. 3rd, there must be research, which involves the systematic and careful collection of data, or objective information, to examine or test where the given hypothesis and ultimately, the corresponding theory is indeed tenable.
