Scientific psychology is how we do our stuff rather than what we do. John edwards turned grief into cash: pan and teller began as great magicians with unbelievable illusions and at the end, they would show to the people how they did their illusions. How you did the tricks were never as entertaining as the illusions. *course link: watch youtube video (link on site) If the trustful answer to these questions is no and none , then whatever you are dealing with is not science. You can be persuaded by anyone, especially if you think they are a figure of authority. How to research: descriptive methods, surveys/ questionnaires problems with these because it is not the best way to get an honest answer. When you just ask people you can always gather data but people lie and do not always answer honestly because they may be embarrassed about questions or may not want to be truthful.
