Heavily involved w/ basal ganglia structures (ventral lateral nucleus = vl) => ventral lateral nucleus of thalamus. Special type of inhibitory cells representing approximately 90% of the neurons within the corpus striatum of the basal ganglia. Play a key role in initiating and controlling movements of the body, limbs, and eyes. Can clearly see their dendritic spines coming from from the dendrites of cell.
