Tool or piece of technology has no meaning beyond what it was meant to do; no lasting impact at all on ourselves, community, world. Lasting impact (when there is one) is necessary and good; inevitable; one more step in evolutionary process. Technology = progress and we must progress. Technology is fun; makes our lives better; allows us to accomplish daily tasks. Ted lectures = humanity walking towards utopia because of machines; assure we achieve our destiny. Turn to ted lectures in order to have ideas confirmed not challenge: faith in technology not misplaced; technology will better us and bring us to a better world. Lack of logic in dreams of future makes them something to be wary of. Time is not the road to utopia. Technology will not bring us to a better world.
