Colin mcphee was born march 15th, 1900 in montreal, canada. He is known for being the first composer to make an ethnomusicological study of bali. His work, tabuh-tabuhan (1936) combines balinese and traditional western musical elements. I really enjoyed this piece because of the percussive sounds and because of its uniqueness. I personally have never heard anything like what. Mcphee wrote, so it was very interesting to listen to. John cage was born september 5th, 1912 in los angeles, california. He was one of the leading figures of the post war avant garde movement. One of his most famous pieces is 4:33, which is 4:33 minutes of silence. It sounds like a movie scene of a forest. There is a wailing sound that sounds like wolves howling in the woods.
