The definition and meaning of terms like art" and creativity" can be debated: examples like: graffiti, mona lisa, muppets, justin bieber etc, art as a shared experience, creativity and expression, appreciate of beauty, art is individually defined. For the sake of this discussion, the arts" include: creative and or expressive. Evidence of human art dating back over 35,000 years ago has been confirmed. Artistic expression is a uniquely human experience shared by every culture. Why do humans engage in the arts? (rafferty, 2008) Class"s thoughts: universal language, interest and enjoyment, recreate an experience, sharing perception, emotional outlet and escape. Research shows: to express emotion, to explore new/alternative ideas, community belonging, traditions and cultural expression, self fulfillment. Theory: to explain phenomenon, why theories exist, why phenomena matters, and what the meanings of certain phenomenons are.
