Background and context
Congenital disorders are the abnormalities or defects that are present since birth. They are caused due to genetic abnormalities or due to environmental factors. They are permanent, generally not easily curable, and may be passed on to the children. Congenital disorders of glycosylation (CDG) are such types of inherited metabolic disorders that can affect a process known as glycosylation.
