Background and context

Aerobic cellular respiration can be defined as the process of obtaining energy from carbohydrates or lipids in eukaryotic organisms. The process is referred to as aerobic since the final acceptor of electrons generated by respiration is oxygen. The whole process of respiration is catabolic and generates energy in form of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) and NADH (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide). Aerobic cellular respiration is classified into 4 stages, namely- glycolysis, link reaction, Citric acid cycle, and oxidative phosphorylation.
