Background and context
Photosynthesis is the process of preparation of organic food from carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight. Here the light energy from the sun is converted into chemical energy within the food. After photosynthesis usually oxygen gas is released. This is how the atmosphere gets replenished with oxygen.
