Background and context

Calvin cycle does not directly depend upon the light. It indirectly depends upon the light as it uses assimilatory products like Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) that are produced from the light reactions. The reaction takes place in the chloroplast stroma.
