Chemical signaling is a characteristic feature of multicellular organisms. Thye help in cell to cell communication in multicellular organisms. They are of four types: autocrine signaling, paracrine signaling, endocrine signaling, and signaling directly across the gap junctions. They differ in the distance traveled from the source to the target cell.
