Background and context
Generally, the cell surface receptors are of three types and they are enzyme-linked receptors, ion-channel linked receptors, and G-protein linked receptors. Ion channel linked receptors bind to the ligands which are the signaling molecules and open an ion channel through the cell membrane by which specific ions can pass.
