Background and context

Hormones regulate several body processes such as the excretory system, reproductive system, body metabolism etc. Water balance is maintained by a hormone called antidiuretic hormone (ADH) secreted by the hypothalamus. ADH regulates the amount of water removed by the kidneys. It causes reabsorption of excess water and concentration of electrolytes in the urine.
