Background and context

Bacteria and archaea are the prokaryotic cells that are found in all types of ecosystems or environments like soil, land, water, etc.  Fungi are eukaryotic organisms, while viruses are not classified in either cells type (prokaryotic or eukaryotic) as they are made up of genetic material and protein only and sometimes considered as non-living cells.
