Background and context

Microevolution can be described as changes that happen on a small scale or within a single population. However, in the case of macroevolution, changes occur on a large scale that transfers one generation to the next generation. In microevolution, the change occurs in allele frequencies that stay constant in a single population over time. These changes occur due to mutation, selection, gene flow, and genetic drift.
