Background and context

Extremophiles are bacterial species that can survive in extreme conditions such as boiling water, freezing lakes, and toxic waste dumps. Some bacteria were discovered in the permafrost of Antarctica where the temperature remains below 0◦C. A key to this type of extremophile bacteria is their composition of amino acid which affects their protein folding ability under a particular condition.
