Background and context
Two types of cells are recognized namely prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Prokaryotes are single-celled organisms and do not have membrane-bound nuclei examples include Bacteria, Blue-green algae. Eukaryotes are multicellular organisms having a membrane-bound nucleus examples include plants and animals. Prokaryotes and eukaryotes differ fundamentally in many ways.
