Background and context
Monosaccharide sugars are considered the simplest form of sugars. The breakdown of monosaccharide sugars is not possible. Disaccharides, polysaccharides are all formed from the bonding of monosaccharide sugars in different combinations. Monosaccharide sugars are used in forming the backbone of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid).
