Background and context
Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are the two main types of cells. Prokaryotes are organisms that are mostly single-celled and belong to the domains Bacteria and Archaea. Eukaryotes include plant cells, animal cells, fungus, and protists. They share a few common properties like plasma membrane that exterior coating that divides the interior of a cell from its surroundings.
