Background and context

The backcross is one of the types of cross done between the F1 hybrid and one of its true-breeding parents. If the parent is homozygous dominant, then it is the dominant back cross. If the parent is homozygous recessive, then it is recessive backcross. The purpose of backcross is to improve the breed.
