Background and context

Mosses are large non-vascular plants. Mosses have thick, multicellular rhizomes that resemble roots. Gametophytes are gamete-producing bodies within the haploid stage. These help in zygote production from which the sporophyte is produced. It is a dominant form in bryophytes.
