Set in the beautiful Vancouver, B.C, Canada, Langara College is a public degree-awarding college that offers numerous accessible undergraduate education opportunities. Langara College was chartered on April 1, 1994 as an independent public college under the Provincial College and Institute Act.The college was among the pioneer institutes in B.C. to design a co-operative education program and implement the first formal Aboriginal education policy.

Langara has an outstanding continuing studies program and the highest university transfer record. Its students collaborate with local industries in carrying out applied research projects. Langara is reputed for its intercollegiate athletic program considered one of the best college athletic programs in Canada. The college is a member of the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST), and the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA). In 1999, Langara College became the runner-up for the Overall CCAA Sport Supremacy Award for athletic achievements from years 1974 to 1999.

The college has distinguished itself many times. In 2013, Langara School of Nursing was named 'School of the Year' at the Canadian Nursing Students' Association (CNSA) national conference. The Langara School of Management has also been ranked one of the top business schools in Canada. In 2002, Langara College Continuing Studies was recognized by the Learning Resources Network (LERN), an international association of lifelong learning. The Langara College is also referred to as sn_w_ey__ lel_m_, house of teachings, a name given to the institution by the Musqueam First Nation, on whose traditional territory the college sits.
