About University of British Columbia

Founded in 1908, the University of British Columbia (UBC), has two campuses. The Vancouver campus (the main campus) and the Okanagan campus. UBC is the oldest university in British Columbia, and after more than 100 years of development, UBC has become a world-renowned university in Canada. The university has always maintained a spot within the top three universities in Canada, while also placing yearly around the 35th place in the world rankings for universities. UBC is known as the 'Pearl of the West Coast', due to its discoveries in scientific research and graduate education. In addition to diverse students, global vision and outstanding research results, UBC's Vancouver campus is also known as the most beautiful campus in North America.



The University of British Columbia is one of the founding members of Universitas 21, an international association of universities with a renowned reputation for teaching and research development. The school initially served as the main operations centre for research cooperation agencies, and gradually developed into a comprehensive university. Within the course of 100 years, UBC has developed into a prestigious Canadian institution of higher learning. Its excellent academic standards with a wide range of professional settings make it an ideal university for many prospective students.



The Vancouver campus is located on the outskirts of Vancouver, Canada's third largest city, just 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver. The campus covers 400 hectares. There is a pleasant climate, long stretches of coastline, and beautiful sandy beaches along the ocean. In addition, the Vancouver campus is home to many of the city's most attractive academic and recreational facilities, including the Museum of Anthropology, the Performing Arts Center, the prestigious UBC Botanic Gardens, and the Plant Research Center. The Vancouver campus is UBC's largest campus with more than 45,000 students. UBC campus has eight large sports facilities. These include swimming, tennis, basketball, badminton, soccer, sports, skating, ice hockey, rugby and other services. The school's mascot is named 'Thunderbird', and has blue and gold as its primary colors.
