Founded in 1966, the University of Calgary is a publicly funded research-intensive university. It has 14 different faculties that offer over 250 academic programs. It is also home to more than 50 research institutes and centers. It has five different campuses in the Calgary area, and one international campus located in Doha, Qatar.

University of Calgary is also home to the Dinos, with 500 student-athletes competing on varsity teams each year. Since 1976, Dinos student-athletes have brought home 14 Olympic and Paralympic medals.
