Boston College
140 Commonwealth Ave, Chestnut Hill, United StatesAbout Boston College
Founded in 1863 by The Society of Jesuits largely to educate the Irish Catholic population of Boston, Boston College quickly grew into the research institution it is today. With an enrollment of over 14,000 students it is ranked 32nd in the nation among universities of its kind. The college grounds its educational programs in a liberal arts curriculum regardless of a student's chosen major.
Though Boston College as been criticized for its homogenous and largely white student population, earning it the nickname 'J. Crew U,' it has made great strides in creating a more diverse student population. Student reviews of the university speak to this issue and generally agree that Boston College has become more diverse and its homogenous population has more to do with the Jesuit affiliation and the types of students it historically attracts.
The university is known for its beautiful suburban campus and rich campus life which gives it a tremendous sense of community. This seems to be much of the appeal for students at the university. The location and its proximity to everything the city of Boston has to offer are major draws for Boston University.
Also a Division I athletic school, sports are a huge component to life at Boston College.

School Reviews
Ranked 38th by US News
Hammad - Boston College’s professors make it a wonderful institution. My experience with the chemistry and mathematics department has been especially rewarding. Professors are interesting, professional, and passionate. Aside from academics, the plethora of clubs and activities offered is wonderful. Athletics are also a fun way to spend time and the school spirit is immense. The school is truly a community and everyone seems to enjoy interacting and getting to know one another. I have met the most interesting and intelligent people at BC, and I am glad I chose to come here.
