About Ohio State University
Known for its academic rigor just as much as it's known for its sports, Ohio State University is a public institution founded in 1870. It is also quite a large university, with over 45,000 undergraduates enrolled in the 2016-2017 academic year. Even with this large student body, the student to faculty ratio is still 19:1.
While the main campus is in Columbus, Ohio, Ohio residents may attend one of their many other campuses in Lima, Mansfield, Marion and Newark, or the Ohio Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster. They will still get a top ranked education, rated #1 among Ohio Public Universities, and 16 among the country's top public universities.
Studying abroad is also a prime opportunity for students to experience outside of the OSU campus. More than 200 study abroad programs are offered in 50 countries, on all seven continents. OSU is also a top 10 producer of Peace Corp volunteers, adding to the number of individuals who get to live and serve in different countries and opportunities.
Overall, OSU is probably best known for its athletics, with the Ohio State Buckeyes of the Big Ten conference. They also recently won give national championships in one year, in football, wrestling, pistol, synchronized swimming and rowing. Football games, in particular, are highly attended by Ohio State students.
Sustainability and staying green is another OSU mission, ranking consistently at the top of the Big Ten in use of green power. It's also named in the top tier of even international colleges and university for its sustainability standards.
