Temple University was founded in 1884 and has more than a hundred years of history. Temple is known as one of the three Philadelphia public universities. With a total population of 39,000 students and 1500 international students, Temple is the 36th largest U.S. institution of higher learning.

Russell H. Conwell, the founding father of the university, believed in the idea that education should be accessible and that it should not just be available to the financially rich or privileged upper class. Now, Temple holds the idea of an "equal opportunity" university. Temple's ultimate goal is to provide young students with equal access to education in order to encourage the youth to pursue the truth and their individual dreams. With this principle, Temple University is able to lower the threshold of admission for local students, and Temple believes in the concept of equality. This approach is implemented only to a certain extent since it reduced the comprehensive ranking of the undergraduate school. However, the Education Institute, Art College, School of Business, School of Medicine, Film and Television Media and other more prominent disciplines have increased their acceptance of international students.

Temple University has more than 60 campus buildings including the nation's largest campus computer tech center that is open 24/7. The tech center can be used free of charge for Temple students. In addition, Temple is well-equipped with a playground, basketball court, gymnasium, swimming pool and other facilities to maintain students' health.

HGSC is the student activity center of Temple University where students visit almost every day for various campus development activities that encourage collaboration. Once you enter the Student Activity Center, the first you'll see is the information office where you can consult anything about the campus. The basement of the student center is where the bookstore and the UPS (United Postal Service) office is located. Here, you can buy any school textbooks required for your classes, school supplies and various types of peripheral products. The second floor of the student center has the campus cafeteria, which leads to the southern part of the student center. Here you'll find the main office of each student organization where all kinds of student clubs and organizations will hold meetings and activities.
