About Wayne State University
Founded in 1868 and located in Detroit, Michigan, Wayne State University is home to mascot W the Warrior and over 27,000 students. Folks from every state and 70 countries choose to study at this campus, in the heart of Detroit. Wayne State ranks highly in its health programs of anesthesia and pharmacy. Research is a huge part of life as a warrior at Wayne State University. In fact, students at Wayne State have many opportunities to conduct research, including through the school's partnership with Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. From examining alzheimer's disease and clean water infrastructures, to exploring noise pollution and motion sickness, students are encouraged to create, learn, and discover constantly.
Study abroad programs in over 30 countries across five continents allow students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a new culture and bring that experience back to the classroom upon their return. Wayne State is also home to some prestigious alumni' Cora Brown, the first African-American woman elected to a state Senate, and Keith Ellison, the first Muslim in Congress.
