Between the ramus of the mandible and the mastoid process of the temporal bone. Extends inferiorly from the eam to the angle of the mandible. Only skin and the platysma muscle cover it. Appears on the anterior border of the gland. Then bends around the anterior border of the masseter to peirce the buccinators at the level of the upper 3rd molar. The duct opens in the oral cavity at the buccal side of the crown of the upper second molar teeth. Intermediate in size between the parotid and the sublingual glands. Large part of the gland is visible just beneath the inferior border of the mandible, extending from the angle of the mandible to the level of the hyoid bone. Wraps around the posterior free edge of the mylohyoid muscle like the letter c. Duct opens up into the oral cavity on either side immediately posterior to the lower incisors.
