- Cleansing solution (check hospital policy)/sterile saline
- Lubricant
- Catheter
- Sterile gloves
- 10-30mL syringe and water for injection
- Urinary drainage bag
- Tape or leg bands
METHOD:
1. Explain procedure to pt
2. Collect equipment
3. Wash hands
4. Provide privacy
5. Put on PPE
6. FOR MALES non sterile clean the penis and under the foreskin and dry (put the foreskin back)
