Chap 16,17: managerial communication and motivation (tut 10) Sender formulates the message (verbal and non verbal symbols), receiver interprets tbis message, repeat this cycle. Jargon: can be a barrier to effective communication: semantic barriers: occur as encoding and decoding errors, and as mixed messages, using the wrong channel, communication with the wrong people or getting lost in a communication echo chamber. It"s a 2-way process that requires skill and effort from both the sender and receiver. Both written and oral communication require skill (noise = anything that interferes with the effectiveness of the communication process) Communication channel: the medium through which a message is conveyed from sender to receiver. Technology: an encourage fast and regular communication, to provide up to date info and for problem so solving. Motivation: forces within the individual that account for the level, direction and persistence of effort expanded at work. Reward: outcome of positive value to the individual.
