Rock n roll grew out of a number of other genres. Grew out of styles like country and western. Other genres that it grew out of were gospel, blues, bluegrass. Radio statio(cid:374)s also had to do (cid:449)ith ro(cid:272)k"s expansion. Before the war, the dominant music was swing. For a long time, if you recorded some music it would have been localized to the area you lived in. All previous styles before rock n roll were regional.
