Raises this issue of truth and falseness in one of the earliest greek myth poems. Theogony (descent of the gods) - how gods came to be. Daughters of zeus (chief olympian god) and mnemosyne (goddess of memory) Because they have all knowledge, they can inspire poets and artists when they sing and dance. He was a shepherd and the muses came to him one day and inspired him. Muses come down and yell at him - not nice to him.
