These are known as the anatomy of the earthquake and are all- important elements. The focus of an earthquake is also commonly called the hypocenter. This is located in the center of an earthquake and all of the energy releases from this specific spot. Since we know that a hypocenter is commonly called a focus, we will next discuss epicenter. 5827019 occurs, the first wave to strike the crust of the earth would be p- waves (primary waves). This is because this specific type of seismic wave travels at a very high velocity away from the focus. Second to arrive at any point on the earth"s surface would be the s- waves (secondary or shear waves). The two surfaces waves that are known to act together are known as love. This can be caused by, underwater earthquakes, underwater volcanic eruptions, underwater landslides, and asteroids or comet impacts in oceans.
