City counsellor of capital ward since 2010, serves as chair of environment committee but also serves on transportation and health boards- these things can interconnect to make eco-friendly decisions. Municipal politics affect daily lives more than federal or provincial politics- touches on almost everything in some way e. g. waste collection, snow plowing, foreign affairs, immigration, health care (i. e. ottawa settling. Complete streets= roads allowing room for people to be physically active, not just drive e. g. bike lanes, cycle track, wider sidewalks. Relies on people to let him know of dangers/problems in the city- not enough staff to catch every issue. Stereotype that capital ward (glebe) is just the rich, highly educated, opinionated citizens , which is true, but it also has a lot of student renters and diversity. Job is to serve people he never hears from rather than those he always hears from, because those people need help more e. g. bed bugs, no heating, crackhouses, etc.
