The somatic nervous system includes motor and sensory nerves (efferent and afferent nerves that connect the ns to the muscle system of the body (motor) or carry information to the sense organs (sensory) There are 3 layers of the meninges: dura mater, arachnoid layer/space, pia mater. Csf circulates the ventricular system of the brain and provides support and comfort for the brain as well. Protects the brain by only allowing certain chemicals through the barrier. The barrier protects the brain from infections and prevents the immediate affects of drugs as they take time to pass through safety mechanism for the brain. Brain has 2 main types of cells: neurons which are basic information processing units, glial cells which support the neurons help with its activities.
