The power of the referendum is the power of identity. Regionalism: not a conflict that can be traced back like the french and. English, but it"s the conflict between provinces and regions that continue to shape this country. Regionalism comes from differences in geography, populace and it became this pervasive force and the role of federalism in driving. What has driven regionalism is interest and economic concerns, resources and the idea of who benefits the economy and who controls it.
